Projects
My current body of work is inspired by my daily life. It is me seeking to reconcile with the limitations of social labels and the desire for the fullness of my humanity and that in others to be recognized. Through my work, I explore binaries and intersections of identity. Through a variety of media- painting, drawing,
installation, and poetry - I am able to critically engage with pervasive social and cultural issues.
I am motivated by themes related to the body, black identity, gender identity, queerness, and the feeling of otherness. Through a filtered lens of black and white, I aim to draw the attention of the viewer to what is omitted. The hope is to begin to dismantle the platform of privilege through generating dialogue around what is omitted from space, both representational and physical. The work is an ongoing dialogue about amplifying voice and inclusive place-making.
SHEIN X COLLABORATION
For this project, I created original artwork and worked with the Shein production team to design and sell 10 articles of clothing released on their platform.
