Blackhouse Paintings
The use of black and white characterizes this series and serves to blur the sense of hierarchy between foreground and background. The intentional omission of color provides a striking contrast and aims to dismantle the platform of privilege through generating dialogue about what is omitted from space, both representational and physical. This series aims to create an ongoing dialogue about black identity, queerness, family, notions of equity, and space and form.

"It's the swirling of the universe
God churning that turns the tides
tethers ancestors brothers sisters fathers stay and mothers endure
and wombs protect
like warriors do
don't forget..."
